One of the most commonly asked questions that I receive is as a freelancer who gets to work from home is,
How can I start a writing career?
Unfortunately, I almost never answer this question because it simply can’t be answered in one email or article, let alone a couple of paragraphs and sentences. So, I have created this blog which is going to finally tell you guys how to make money as a blogger, or writer like myself.
Before we go any further, there is something that you have to first figure out. If you want to work from home, you need to invest significant time, dedication and passion into your project in order for you to truly become a success. In other words, it isn’t going to be an easy road, and you’re going to have to love what you do because becoming a freelancer isn’t a ‘get rich quick’ kind of thing.
Once you have that figured out, you need to decide what kind of freelancer or writer you intend to be – or rather, what you are good at. Here are some options:
- Article writer
- Press Releases
- Technical Writer
- Blogger (For other companies)
- Self Blogger
- Web Content Writer
- Web Copy Writer
- News Reporter
- News Columnist
- Product Description Writer
- Grant Writer
- Essay Writer
- Business Plan Writer
- e-Book Writer
- Book Writer
- Legal Writer
- Resume Writer
- Song Writer (Lyrics)
- Research Writer
- Speech Writer
And the list of work from home opportunities as a writing freelancer goes on and on. However, it is important to realize that you don’t have to pick one category and strictly stay within those guidelines. In fact, I encourage you to explore the horizon and find a wide range of writing talents that are within your pen… Or keyboard since no one really uses pen and paper anymore.
For example, my writing freelancer expertise consist of; blogging (personal and for others), article writing, copy writing, eBook writing, book writing, product description writing, web content, copywriting and many more, but you get the idea.
The more you can do, the higher potential you have to make money online. Go ahead and google the definitions of those styles and see what kind of content you can provide and what categories you fall into. Once you have decided exactly what you have to offer, you can learn how to make money by providing those exact services.
Now, go on! Figure it out and comment in the section below as to what kind of writing you are going to take a stab at!
