Last night was date night with my bestie Katie, and I decided to take her to a Guelph Storm game, because let’s get serious, everyone knows that I absolutely adore my seasonal brothers..!
Now, I didn’t get a kiss at the end of the night (kidding), but other than that, our bestie date rocked. Why, you ask? Well, because Guelph Storm won obbbbvs.
It was actually funny because Kitchener Rangers is who they were playing, and they have some diehard fans. It’s absolutely amazing, and rather intimidating if you’re from the opposing team, but I rocked my Guelph Storm McGinn swag and Guelph Storm pompoms like a champ. Plus, feisty little me could totally take on any obscenities, right? Okay, so a few words were exchanged from time to time between us and some ranger fans, but for the most part it was all fun and games…. For the most part, I said.
Tonight was the Teddy Bear Toss for Kitchener Rangers, which means…. I got plummeted with teddy bears. So, if you’re new to OHL, it’s a night where people bring teddy bears, big and small, and when the first goal is scored by the team, everyone throws their teddies on the ice and donated to those in need. Excellent motivation, right? Well, you see… my seats are on the glass, which means I’m at the bottom, getting knocked out by teddy bears that are surprisingly hard when they’ve travelled from the top of an arena. Actually, I got a ginormous garbage bag full of toys to my head. Can you say ouch? I kind of thought I was knocked out for a bit. Or I’m just being dramatic, but whatevs. It did hurt, but now more than 8000 kids will get a Teddy Bear, so it’s totally worth the pain I endured.
Plus, it provided a damn load of laughter between us sitting at the glass getting beaten up by stuffed animals… All the motivation to bring even more ones next year!
I got fresh with a life sized Teddy Bear, and rocked my Guelph Storm gear proudly as I stood on my chair and cheered. Hey! In an arena of 8000 plus people all cheering for the opposing team, 5’3 me needs a little bit of a boost and the chair seemed like the perfect option for me to swing my Guelph Storm pompoms and scream,
“LET’S MAKE IT RAIN BITCHES!” and “ITS STARTING TO THUNDER AND LIGHTNING IN HERE!” …Do you get it? Do ya? …Ya know… Guelph STORM.
I had a nice chat with the fabulous coach of the Storm after the game, in which we planted a friendly prank on McGinn and I was off on my way. What a night full of rain, hail, snow, lightning, thunder, tornadoes and shazz monkey. It was a gawd damn STORM in this lifestyle blogs hizzzouse tonight.
Okay. I’ll stop.
I got carried away.
